Promote E-Prescribing
Surescripts is pleased to support your efforts to promote e-prescribing.
We've developed a number of resources you can use to let local physicians know that your pharmacy is connected to the Surescripts network as well as information you can share with physicians to encourage their adoption of e-prescribing technology.
We have made the following material available to you:
1.
LOGO - CONNECTED TO THE SURESCRIPTS NETWORK
This logo can be applied to your communications, web site
and any other place where you reference e-prescribing. It
will identify you as a pharmacy that is e-prescribing
enabled via the Surescripts network.
When using this logo, please refrain from placing on a
patterned background.

2. 'COMING SOON'
LETTER
Purpose: Used to inform your local physicians about
your upcoming (but not yet available) ability to accept
e-prescriptions. Educates physicians on benefits of
electronic prescribing for their practices and provides
direction on the steps that they need to take in order to
begin to communicate with your pharmacy electronically.
Suggested timing: Within three weeks of the date you
anticipate that your pharmacy software will be enabled for
electronic prescribing.
How to use: We have provided 2 versions of this
letter in Microsoft Word format.

Standard: This
version has been formatted to work with most
letterheads. Simply print to your letterhead and
mail. |
| B | Customizable: This version has been formatted to leave space to insert the name of your pharmacy, your logo (if applicable), your name (on the signature line) and the date in the spaces provided then print. If you wish, you can replace the standard greeting with a custom greeting to a specific physician. |

3. LAUNCH LETTER
Purpose: Used to announce your new e-prescribing
capabilities. Educates physicians on benefits of electronic
prescribing for their practices and provides direction on
the steps that they can take to begin e-prescribing, if they
have not done so already.
Suggested Timing: Within one month of enabling your
pharmacy for e-prescribing via the Surescripts network.
How to use: We have provided 2 versions of this
letter in Microsoft Word format.

4. PHYSICIAN ELECTRONIC PRESCRIBING BUYERS GUIDE
Purpose: A worksheet designed to assist physician
practices in determining their optimal path to electronic
prescribing. Features of different e-prescribing software
can be compared and contrasted. There are also
considerations that relate to hardware, training and service
support.

5. DR. DETAILING KIT
Purpose: Provides pharmacists with talking points and
a brochure to help educate physicians on the benefits of
electronic prescribing. The brochure includes a list of
e-prescribing software for physicians that has been
certified by Surescripts.

Purpose: A straightforward one-page document that
provides physicians with information on how to acquire
e-prescribing technology for their practice and the
associated benefits.

8. Medicare Incentives Fact Sheet
The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA), passed in July 2008 establishes financial incentives and penalties for electronically prescribing in many physician practices.
