Prescription History for Hospitals
Hospitals can utilize the Surescripts network to securely
access real-time patient prescription history information for
the purposes of medication reconciliation or medication
management.
The prescription history information is from payer and
PBM claims data and includes patient prescription claims
history information that has been paid for using a patient’s
pharmacy benefit. It currently does not include medications that the
patient paid cash for or any over-the-counter (OTC)
medications that a pharmacy would not run through the claims
adjudication process. Surescripts will be expanding its
Prescription History for Hospitals service in the
future by including prescription history from community pharmacies.
